  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

So yes there have been numerous delays and what not, but who all is just drooling to get their hands on a Scarlett? I've in the meantime purchased my own 7D. I've been renting a RED One for shoots and love it but the thing gets so darn hot and is HUGE. I'd like a hybrid between a DSLR and the Red One. I'm hoping that Scarlett will fill this void. Anyone heard the latest confirmed fact on all this? I want to purchase a interchangeable mount Scarlett.

I hear you on the hot issue. In Taiwan, the weather gets way too hot to use the Red One without running into problems -- today was 42 degrees Celsius! In fact many local DP's won't use it in summertime.

The point is..... I sincerely hope that the Scarlett doesn't have that problem!
 
Be realistic! I think we will be able to buy Epic at the end 2011 and Scarlet at the 2012

Maybe in Ukraine.
Epic tattoo's are in the field now, so Epics should be released in a couple of months now. First Scarlets by the end of the year.
 
Yeah I think this year will happen b/c Jim said it would. I mean the last thing he wants to do right now is give out a release date b/c of all of the delays. So when he says this year I'm pretty sure he is extremely confident about that date. The last thing he wants to do right now is give out another date only to not fulfill.
 
One can be a bit more optimistic when they are at the stage of working production prototypes and the worst of the firmware bugs have been crushed. Not to say they don't still have a lot of work in front of them though.
 
Can people please stop misspelling Scarlet! It's just plain annoying. :emote_headwall: :001_rolleyes:
 
Definatley still buying a scarlet as soon as its released . IT is worth the wait , burning the heads of my Gl2 and panasonic DVX100 in the mean time . May get a Lumix Gh1 for fun . Sounds like the scarlet is back on track after a major fimware bug has been resolved (hurray ) .
 
I've been told personally by Jannard that I am in the back of the line for the Scarlett so get back here and join me! (I mentioned pricing). Fantastic that EPIC will be built in the USA.
 
Tattoos are Beta prototypes. The only holdup was the firmware bug. Pictures Jarred posted of named cameras in early May were of Tattoos.

I see EPIC prototypes. ...and I read a LOT of speculation that they are EPIC TATTOOS.

...but are they??!!

I have to agree. Jim’s statement is pretty clear.

There are working Epic’s, probably fair to call them prototypes since the feature set isn’t finalized. When the platform is stable on those, then Tattoos go out.

I don’t think we’ve seen a working Epic without a RED rep around it. Seems to me the point of the Tattoo program is to have pre-release models in unsupervised, multiple *lucky* real world users’ hands to finalize any issues missed back at HQ. It’s clear that stage of the program hasn’t been reached yet. *EDIT* BUT clearly they are close*

Well it is all speculation at this point since Red is playing it close to the vest.
But Epic prototypes have been shooting since around February and the firmware bug has been resolved. Mark at Off Hollywood has been dropping veiled hints that suggest they may have one or more already, may even be using one on a feature film. Of course these could be some factory prototypes and not the actual Tattoos.

I'm just reading optimistically between the lines. :001_rolleyes:
