In preparation for the "future" purchase of the RED-One, I just got Adobe Premier Pro CS5 to use in my new custom built PC. I've been playing with it for a few days now and learning a great deal, and I love this program.

The one thing I cannot figure out, and am hoping some of you "in the know" will help me with is:

After completing your project, edit and finalizing everything and saving it, how do you transfer the finished video to a DVD? And, how about transferring the video itself to an external hard drive and NOT within the program? I know there must be options for these within the program. I just can't find them.

Thanks for any and all help. Since I'm new at this, your tolerance is appreciated.

I don't think you can encode and burn straight to DVD, can you? Even if you can I don't know if I would recommend it. Encore is an application that is dynamically linked to PP, and is cutom designed for this purpose and the architecture is likely to be superior.

OK, all that said, it still brings up my original question:

HOW DO I MAKE A DVD OF THE VIDEO I HAVE FINISHED EDITING IN ADOBE CS5 ? In other words, How do I get it out of CS5 and onto a DVD or Blu-Ray Disc ?

You don't need to shout.

Try Encore, it comes with Premiere Pro, and there's a manual…

I have CS4 but don't use Premiere Pro.

Have you tried looking for support at abobe.com too? Seems like a better place to start maybe.

The answer is in my message. Premiere is dynamically linked to Encore, which as far as i am aware is bundled in with Premiere.

Dynamically linked means that you can link the project file from one application to another without having to render. look in file>Dynamic Link>New Encore Project.

Something along those lines anyway. Sorry but its to complex a program to just give you the step by step in a message like this.

Alternative: render out a mp4 or H.264 and burn it with encoding software like Roxio or Nero.

Concerning Uli Planks comment. Obviously using capitals emphasises the words - hence you instantly imagine someone shouting!

To gain a better understanding of the application I recommend Lynda.com

that's what I meant. Geez to OP - read the manual, do a search in help. "Export to Encore"

George, I'm working from a dim memory here, but choose "export" and you should see all the options there you need to proceed. Export should be the dropdown under "file", or whatever. Seems like you can export to dvd or export to media encoder. Also, and I'm relying on my CS4 memories here because I haven't installed the CS5 version yet, you should indeed have a co-install of Encore with Premiere Pro. And, you very likely have an instructional dvd that came with your app. Watch the instructional numerous times, before inevitably making a few coasters.
