Being a scandinavian I always shudder at scandinavian's faith in government control.Being Scandinavian I always laugh at americans fear for socialism.
I don't like when people start talking about "Oh visit Europe, see how great it is." No, it isn't. It's a decrepit continent that makes me sad for what USED to be great. If you want a very simplistic view -- past - Europe, present - North America, future - Asia. There is no future in countries where people work an average of 30 hours a week, pay 50% taxes, and basically languish in total mediocrity. These are broken countries, where the spirits of the people are weak and the sense of great adventure and great achievements have been destroyed by socialist concepts that demean individual achievement for a collectivist mentality that is antithetical to the advancement of humanity in general.
Europe has many beautiful things, but it is full of countries with poor economies, high unemployment rates, and socialists. I say if you want the U.S. to look that way, please GTFO and go live in Europe. We already have socialist countries in the world, you're welcome to go find one, but don't try to turn my country into one.
As for Obama, yeah he has many socialist tendencies, but at the same time neither political party is any better at safe-guarding the freedoms we hold dear in this country. They are two sides of the same coin. Bush and Obama are both incompetent blowhards. The only solution is someone with a lot more libertarian leanings who starts repealing laws and repealing taxes.
"People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people!"

Sorry, couldn't resist that off topic political rant.
Anyway, all the control crap that has been going on in the world recently are just horrendous. In Sweden they tap everything you do on the internet, for terrorist threat they say. Yeah, because Sweden has been a target of so many terrorist attacks recently.........
And today it became clear that all european credit card transitions will be monitored by EU and USA. Terrorism again.
An internet killswitch is a good idea. Make it an annual event and we'll all have to go out and face the sunshine and talk to people on the phone or scarier still - face to face.
