Firstly let me say how much i enjoy working with r3d files in PP CS5. i do have 1 issue however.

PP CS5 is not recognizing my external samsung 1920X1080 monitor via DVI.

I'm working with quad 4k files scaled to framesize in a 1920X1080 timeline. Is it possible to view a 1080p output via DVI in this way?

I believe it is because i had it working for a short time, don't know what happened. Now PP is not recognizing my external monitor at all. Any suggestions?

it's a custom buitl laptop. i have Geforce GTX 285M graphics card. I assume it's through the graphics card yes.

Windows 7. i'll try expanded again. i've tried all setting.

edit: It works, but it flashes and really strugles to play even at 1/4 res. Could this be CPU issues?

i wonder if it's got anything to do with using the native 4k files?

im running i7 3.2, 12gig ram, GTX 285M...

yeah from the little 'output' button in the program player. i click, choose playback setting and select my monitor.

can't select 1/8 or 1/16. My processor is i7 960 @ 3.2GHZ

really? i liked being able to crop in on the 4k files for the 1080p output.

This works great. It's a setting within the application, versus using the desktop monitor settings of your OS.

Instead of tearing the Program Monitor window out of your current layout, you can try this

1) Click the “flyout” or wing menu of the Program Monitor (the upper right button)

2) On the drop down or menu, click the “Playback Settings’ option all the way on the bottom

3) In the Playback Settings window, under “Realtime Playback”, click External Device, then select your 2nd or 3rd or 4th LCD monitor or Plasma that’s hooked to a DVI or HDMI port of your PC/laptop

So now on the 2nd or whatever monitor, you’ll see the output of the Program Monitor (or Source Monitor as well)
