How much do you think my R1 with MX sensor will sell for after the stage 3 is announced when my R1 has been executed (cannot return for trade-in)? Will there be a market of people who want to own a R1 that cannot be traded-in?

How much will the Epic rent for if you receive it during stage 2, before everyone else in stage 3?

I know this opens a can of worms and there are a lot of variables, but I am just trying to get a general knowledge.

Thanks,

Jeremy

who knows now. Might have a LOT more value in the RED ONE now that Epic is on an unknown delay. So i'd have to say current RED's probably have bumped up a LOT in value due to Jim's "bug" announcement. Of course now that stage 2 is over.....i don't see how anyone would sell the camera in the $14k range like we'd seen a lot of prior to stage 2 closing. Mine was for sell for $14.5k before stage 2 closing. Now i won't accept anything less than full value. In fact, with MX ready cameras i would think there might be a premium value attached. But certainly not less than the original value.

And wasn't there some discussion or thread about Monstro chips being able to go into RED ONE's?

The Red One with MX will still be a GREAT camera. For many productions, the light weight of the Epic is not so much of an issue. I don;t think you will ever see them selling for as low as they were again - at least, not for many years.

@ Jeremy

Think in terms of usefulness. MX-ed R-1 footage will intercut with Epic footage seamlessly. Put a 640 GB drive on a R-1, point it at the scene from a different POV, and just turn it on. Let edit worry about what parts of any frames to print.

And if you are renting out your Epic and are competing with another Epic for the same job, just tell them you will throw the R-1 in for free as a B cam. You should get the job.

R-1s will be around longer than R2D2s

I wouldn't throw in my R1-MX for free! But otherwise good points!
