My Gpu is quadro Fx5800 .
Open some old R3d file is ok (like Camera Firmware Version: 3.4.1#17 and Camera Firmware Version: 21.4.1#21)
but
import (Camera Firmware Version: 30.5.0#30) can't preview in bin
then put footage to timeline premiere pro crash !

already manual install red3importer_p1_win_052410.zip
someone help me ! sorry my english !

Thanks!!!

nadong:

try to put the source directory to C drive root, it seems if you put the source clip under any chinese character path it will become crash, this happen to CS5 or Redcine both.

I'm having similar problems as the OP. I updated PPro to 5.0.1 first, then installed the new red3importer manually following Adobe's instructions to the letter.

Now all R3D files (shot with firmware 30.5.0#30) I import show up as having a first frame consisting of tiny thumbnails, like this:

PProCS5_import_issue.jpg

That's what the first frame looks like in the Source window. I can view other, perfectly normal looking frames by dragging the Source window's timeline slider but clips refuse to play, no matter what I try. Switching from CUDA to software acceleration makes no difference. Sometimes fiddling with the clips crashes PPro, especially when trying to drag them onto timeline.

I think I'll try reverting to the original importer next.

update: Reverted back to importers installed with 5.0.0 or 5.0.1 (can't tell which one) and things are working a whole lot better. No tiny thumbnails in first frame and clips play wonderfully in Source and Program windows with CUDA acceleration. Unfortunately this importer does not support new color science :/

Now I can no longer open any clips shot with 30.5.0#30, not with new or old importer. PPro displays a "Import files" progress window, but nothing happens and eventually I have to kill PPro in Task Manager.

Urgh, nice work Adobe. Installing the new R3D importer over PPro 5.0.1 leads to PPro crashing during import - and the problem does not go away if one goes to back to original R3D importer. I'm pretty sick of uninstalling and re-installing CS5...

Hi Petri,
1.I´ve had similar problems with some clips, but not with all of them. They are shot with MX and build 30. If a clip shows strange artifacts in the opening window and let the application crash, all the other clips in the same folder will do the same. In some folders all the clips work fine. I know a similar problem from RedcineX. If there is one corrupted file in a folder, all the files in the same folder let the application crash. Would be nice to have a Redundead for PC. Maybe this would solve those problems.
2.To make the Adobe importer work on my system I had to trash the plugins (before I added the new ones) and not copied them with "copy and replace". Then a restart.
3.I always check the Raid. A lot of problems looking like software problems could also come from a bad communication with the Raid. Sometimes this indicates a drive is soon going to die.
BTW I´m just starting testing CS5. This is a FANTASTIC software! I hope Adobe will care about new builds faster then others. They did a great job!!!
Thanks
Marc
