Just finished up a shoot over the weekend. We shot using 4 CF 16gb cards. The first set of off loads seem to have went fine. We took the cards and copied them over to a hard drive. We then erased the cards on the computer and then shot another round with them. When we went to offload them they looked fine right from the card, then after transfering them to the hard drive the quicktime files just come up green and there is a loud beep that comes and goes.

Just wondering if that is a problem or should the r3d files still be ok? And does anybody know why this occurred? Just wondering what is the best process of offloading the clips on set while being able to check them right away to know the footage was shot and copied safely?

Please reply back, we have a shoot this weekend and we need to get this problem solved. Thanks everyone.

Don't erase/format the cards on the computer. Only do it in the camera. If you do erase or format the cards on the computer for testing purposes or to zero them out, you should always re-format on the camera before recording to them. Some apps like R3D Data Manager allow you to format in the application. Don't do it. Actually, I don't know if the latest version of R3DDM has this ability or not, but don't use it.

Beyond that, there still could be a problem with a CF module on the camera or a CF reader. Damaged readers/modules can damage cards or cause errors on multiple cards or on some cards, but not others.

Hey one of my friend was facing the same problem it is juz the CF which has to be formatted in the camera so no worries...

I would check my fire wire cables...
Is the footage corrupt or just the proxies?

real names!
