  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Shoulder mounting a Scarlet

Zacuto will make some very comfortable stuff but but be prepared for your wallet to cry.

I am sorry there was misunderstanding. I thought I was clear in stating that it was information that I had been told and that I was interested in finding out more. That happened and I now have a broader base of information than I had before.

But I never stated that the build quality was bad - only that I had been told that. I was not spreading misinformation, just sharing opinions from others whom I considered (and still do) reasonably informed. As far as I am concerned, neither group ("for" or "against") has a monopoly on the truth. They are all just opinions.

I followed you Terry. I have heard the same thing from a number of people on here, but have never used any of RedRock Micro's products.

The RED Gunner will be the perfect thing for those who need something lightweight and easy to trave with...

But for long days of shooting, I would love to be using this thing...

It grabs your front and back, to allow you to go hands free between takes and frees you to adjust settings on say a REDmote...

Actually I have a question to pose you guys. There is a new company here in the Montreal area called Shape, and they are providing 15mm rail systems. The one that would be interesting for Scarlet would be the Spider II, but (long shot) has anyone here actually used one of their products in the field before? They have a good price for us with the smaller budget in mind...

I also use the RedRock Mattebox - nothing to complain about here, either. Pelicase is a must.

Yep love the mattebox, not so much the followfocus though, mucho play in everyone I've handled. But I'm not an Op or an AC, so those might have been duds.
However, I got to play with a friends Arri bundle yesterday and was blown away by the value for money. 3500 for Mattebox and FF. And very very well built. And a lovely case too.

I have a RedRock ShoulderMount, and I'm happy with that... At least for lightweight cameras. And I bought it thinking to use it with a future S-35 Scarlet...

If you want to see it in my 5D -> http:///descargas.dosdecatorce.com/imgs/ShoulderMount.jpg

But, I worked with the FF and the Matte Box, and I'm not sure about this. It's a very good price, but for now, I'm waiting for the 1.200$ RED MATTE BOX announce, I believe it will worth the price difference (I hope it'll be 15mm rods compatible).

But IMHO ShoulderMount is a very versatile and nice working piece... Sure great for this price... And the most important thing is when I bought it, in 2009, Gunner was very very far away. ;)

Could we have prices for the RED Gunner and the other RED shoulder rig ? I'll buy at least a RED Gunner.

Is that possible to put the RED Gunner on a tripod for static shooting ?

Since Scarlet is so light I'd just put it on a Spiderbrace and call it a day.

For those accostumed to larger cams (and also cams with many functionalities) there could be a shoulder pad with a cut to stick below the camera and modules so you can handheld RED cameras just like an Arri. Simple and affective.

Why complicate with rigs, with bolts and knobs when you can make it simple?

while we're at it...

while we're at it...

Here is my rig suitable for any "box" camera including Scarlet. It actually puts the camera and the lens where they are supposed to be- on your shoulder.
Brick in the back powers everything and acts as counter balance. Base has power taps and viewfinder mount fully adjustable.:sifone:
