Not sure if this is the right place. But I'm looking for a still image of a night sky with lots of stars to comp into a day for night shot for my feature film.

I sort of found something on shutterstock, but I only need 1 shot, and I don't want to license a "bundle". It's a low budget project, and I thought maybe someone out there might have a shot I could use.

I tried taking my own shot, but there's so much light pollution, that I was having a tough time. I've learned shooting the night sky is harder then it looks.

I need something 1920 x 1080 (or bigger)

Thanks so much if anyone has one.

Chris

Hey Chris, this is a still from a series of 10 exposures I made as a plate for a film I worked on last year. The reason there are 10 is because I shot them at slightly different exposures then stacked them in After F/X to give them a sort of slight flicker that's still realistic. I then matted them as a BG plate with some pine trees in the foreground shot in real/time on the RED. The effect is quite convincing. Let me know if the shot suits your project and if so I'll find a way to get the Canon RAW files emailed to you.

Best, Joe T.

I just shot these for fun this weekend on a camping trip. Note that they were shot on an old Canon powershot, so JPEG compression, but stars nonetheless.

Hi Chris -

I have been involved in high-end astrophotography for a lot of years. Maybe I have something that would work. If not, I know many advanced astro imagers around the world who may be able to provide what you need. Let me know specifics, i.e., angular field of sky view you need, if it is a simple realistic star pattern you are after. I have stuff from a few arcminutes wide to 360 degree fisheye, mostly around 12 megapixel size, color and mono.

Regards,

Mike
