  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Long time lurker. First time user. I have a very limited amount of Red footage for a ski film from another shooter. A few shots in 2k 120fps and a few in 4k 30 fps. Everything else is shot on standard HD. We are editing in Prores in FCP. I searched and couldn't find what I was looking for. I'm sure the answer was there, but I spent an hour searching and have had no luck sifting through all the info.

So can I just take the quicktime proxy file _F and convert using something like mpeg streamclip? Since everything else is just HD and not 4k am I really taking a hit in quality when compared to my other footage?

Or should I go through some other program like Redrushes or redcinex to convert the actual R3D's?

Here's the trailer for the film so people get some fun out of the thread. http://vimeo.com/12283965

Maybe next year with some actual budget I can be shooting Red. It would have been an awesome tool to have.

Thanks for the help.

I'm using the REDCineX to convert, but it is taking so long! There is some other way to do, without the Rocket?
