  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Happy to report that build 246 is great. No more washed out renders in the ProRes codec. Grading some old build 20 footage shot with the M sensor-looks fantastic and now matches the preview window after rendering.

I love this program, it's addictive.

Thanks for the awesome work.

Some nice improvements in the new build, and I hate to be that guy, but I'm going to do another "We really desperately need..." list:

- Clip relinking when clips can't be found.
- Some way to export projects -- as XML, Lua, etc. Whatever you guys want, I can write a script to parse it. It should include look data.
- Fix for bug where "Open Folder" loads spanned clips multiple times.
- The ability to manually link an audio file with a clip (indie features inevitably screw up timecode on a couple of shots here and there).
- Add easy way to advance viewer to the next clip in the bin.
- Frame ranges in file names when exporting clips with in/out points set (see how Clipfinder does this).
- Use F1-F9 on Tangent Wave to store grades (like Color).
- Undo.

Not sure if these are fixed or not because I'm not at the office and don't have access to a Rocket at the moment:

- RedRocket HD-SDI audio, or at least consistently frame-accurate internal audio playback when using Rocket.
- Update viewer image when using Rocket external playback, even if only when video is paused (white balance picker nearly useless without this when using Rocket).

First big bug noticed: UNDO...

Wow! After reading this post I got very excited and downloaded it immediately. After updating my Red Rocket I did a heavy contrast grade and exported ProRes 4444.

Amazing! It's like a 98% match, which is more than close enough for me. Compared to the 75% match it used to do, this is fantastic. Very usable right off the bat.

Well done Red!

After updating the firmware using installer 1.3.2c on our rocket card, Rocketcinex1740 has stopped working. RedinceX246 is working ok so far. When you get past the error messages (see screen shots) the app opens but no clips can be opened.
Anybody else having this issue

Also can Redincex create RSX files?
And, what is "Automatically save RMO " mean please.

RMD (not RMO) is the new generation of RSX. RDM is replacing RSX.

I will see what happens with ROCKETcine-X. I hope they can do a update but RED has said they will abandon ROCKETcine-X after REDCINE-X gets in the mainstream.

And, oh yeah, the new build is looking great. There was a shot I had problem because of background is super bright and didn't have enough light on the face, so I had to manipulate it with Apple Color with master gamma and the secondaries, but with the new build, I can easily keep the bright area in the range and bring up the face. There's no doubt now that doing the baselight with FLUT science and output DPX to Apple Color would give me the great outcome!

246b (on Windows 7 64-bit & RRocket) crashes very easily when I twiddle the color wheels :/

RocketcineX has stopped working for me as well. I didn't realize that RocketcineX was a short lived project. I like the clean interface for transcoding on set.

I agree with Bob.
1740 is my on-set go-to since it is clean, simple, and JUST WORKS.
If it's now disabled I will be very sad...
Perhaps some of the GUI from RocketcineX can be ported over to RedcineX?
Specifically, I LOVE the list view and the simple checkboxes for batch rendering and grading.
I am NOT such a big fan of the "timeline" approach that RedcineX takes. I'm not editing. I'm not an editor. I'm just batching transcodes and grades. A timeline is a clunky way to view a magazine's worth of footage.
Red Team, can we please have this option???
Cheers,
Harry

First impressions are that playback is worse on my imac @ home.
I am used to seeing 2K 16:9 RC28 footage play back smoothly at 1/2 resolution on v183,194,221.
Now I have to set it to 1/4 resolution to avoid jerky playback.
:(
It seems to play back more smoothly if I reset all look parameters to metadata.
BTW this is using footage from v17 camera build. I'll try it with v30.4.1 footage @ work tomorrow.

Glad to see some of the bugs ironed out though.

+1

I third this.

It's a simple easy interface for what the card does best. View and render.

You could probably set this up as awindow layout.

Please tell me why I don't have the option to transcode to ProRes4444 on my Macbook Pro. Could it be that I need Final Cut installed? Noticed it appeared on my buddies computer.

What I do have is Apple ProRes 422 and 422 (HQ).

Please advise.

If I try to zoom the timeline it looses visual representation. The footage is still there and I can play, but I can't see anything on the timeline.

Is is possible to do color work while a clip is playing? Right now it stops playing as soon as I try to change any colors
