Im trying to render out 30 second clips from redcine-x.. rendering 422hq, 720, and each clip is taking 15 min...

there is no way.. my computer is smoking fast..

is there a way to set redcine x to render multiple clips at once?
or does anyone have an answer to this slow speed?

(no rocket)

Full Debayer

Full Debayer

If you are doing a full de-Bayer at 4K before resize and re-encode, then in software even on a 3+GHz CPU it could take at least 10 seconds per frame, more like 15-30 with slower harddrives.

How many frames are in each clip?

30 seconds at 24fps = 720frames * 10 seconds = 7200 seconds / 60 = 120 minutes

or

15 minutes = 900 seconds / 720 frames = 1.2 seconds per frame

less than 2 seconds per frame for a full 4K de-Bayer+resize+recode sounds fast to me, on my Brother's 3.2GHz computer its more like 10+ seconds per frame to do full 4K de-Bayer and file load/save.

What speeds are other people getting without hardware like ROCKET?

Try using file copy to copy the clip from one folder to another folder (between drives, not just making a "shortcut" to the same file), how long does that take?

2K full de-Bayer vs. workprint mode

2K full de-Bayer vs. workprint mode

its not full de-bayer in 4k.. it is full in 2k...

i didnt resize... should i have resized?

For a 2K full debayer 1.2 seconds per frame sounds about right, its about 1/4 the 10 seconds or so for 4K.

If you can render is less than "full de-bayer" mode that would make a big speed up maybe. Someone else will need to tell you what boxes to check, but look for 1/2 size render if you can resize from 1K rather than 2K to the final use.

In my de-Bayer program I am working on I can "workprint" 2.5K to smaller sizes at rates faster than 1fps, maybe 4fps on a fast computer like yours, but the full debayer plus lens filters and other filters then resize can take 90 seconds per frame, so the quality and how many steps are selected can make a big speed change. But for final use, I would not recomend using the "quick" modes since they may show some aliasing or chroma moire.

more pixels * more steps = more time

No Rocket... No speed...buy a rocket it's a good investment. I guarantee it.
