... the RED-RAMs have been one of the best RED related purchases I've ever made. They are busy EVERY DAY. Each one rents for $185/day and I have no trouble keeping them rented when I'm not using them.

More like 36 days after you figure insurance costs and other overhead. It also helps that I'm one of about two people in town that have them... Most people renting pay for them by the week at $550/week. They're one of the few RED accessories that I will rent without a camera package.

I see the demand for the RED RAM's falling through the floor once the 64GB cards and 1.8" SSDs hit the market. And people will be buying those more than renting I think.

For Example, when there is no drive attached is there a little door that protects the connection or is it always open?

you can always take the module off and put in the waterproof case

2.5" is not for capture on the camera. Its for onset backup.
