Network Aware recording modules

What if the recording modules (CF, SSD, drive) were network aware?

It could make the media's contents visible to the network
Software could automatically copy the files to the hard drive of a laptop or on-set PC

Literally, file transfer would be eliminated, as by time the shoot was over, everything is already copied to a computer. And you still have your digital negative as a backup on the media.

Yeah, I don't like this idea as well. Its better to have someone checking to make sure things are copied over right and backed up.

I like this idea a lot. But I think it would be very tricky to design. The checksum idea is sound to provide a measure of assurance that copies are being made correctly. But if it is happening over a network, it will be much slower than real time, so it will not be concurrent, and it would be important to ensure that this function never interferes with the camera's record function. Quite a difficult task I think.
