So I am need of replacing my 3rd failed Red battery plate. I no longer want to buy Red so am looking at the Element Technica IDX plate (very $$$), the Switronix plate and the Switronix dual hotswap.

Any thoughts?

Sanjin's post --> here showed me what proved to be an extremely satisfying buy. It's very $$$ but very well worth it.

Every DP who has worked with this piece of kit is more than pleased at not needing to endure the boot-up time. I always thought the annoyance was a bit overdone but I definitely enjoy not hearing about it. 1st ADs are always thrown by it as well. They see you with a battery in hand and roll their eyes at what they assume will be a couple minutes of lost production. When you shrug at them and say "camera's ready" without missing a beat they inevitably look quite confused. A guilty little pleasure I must admit.

if you opt for switronix i would go for this one

i don't know if you wanted brand new or second hand, the older switronix one, the first one that allowed hot swap was POS IMHO. Battery mounted on one side opposite of the other side so it made it really hard to see battery level on the battery itself (you won't see your percentage on the camera it will just say DC) the wire became frayed and exposed cabling first few day of use right out of the box, and it didn't have a vertical mount posture, more of a horzontal, and as you know with vmounts, shock to the side of the batteries would make it unlatch. so moving the camera around on the tripod if we didn't plant the tripod gently the battery would just fall off.

make sure the batteries mount vertically!!

I went the route of Anton Bauer. If that's an option, it's a matter of selling batteries and chargers, buying the plate and whatever it takes for mounting to the camera. I'm very satisfied thus far.

...I'm sure you know these things.

Bebob looks really cool.. Any place to get that stateside right away? Namely in Los Angeles? Sounds like it's around $430 which doesn't seem bad considering the ET IDX option is $400+ and the Switronix dual mount is $450

I had to order my Bebob direct and the Euro was definitely not so favorable. Shipping was very fast once the order was complete. It was a bit of a hassle dealing with multiple steps (order, receive confirmation, print out payment sheet, fill out and fax it back, etc...) but again, it was worth it.

Thanks Spencer - Did your Bebob come with the V-mount battery plate already attached? Looks like an IDX plate from the looks of it.

It did, absolutely the best V-Lock plate I've used. They're on my CamWave system as well (of course) and they're top notch.

The only issue I had was the mounting option. The Bebob is made to go on the RED cradle directly replacing the original RED battery plate. I use the Element Technica V-Dock system so I had to make an aluminum plate to mate my Bebob and V-Dock. It was simple but I'm not sure what system you're using now.

I am using the Element Technica $80 battery plate mounted to a Red universal mount. Wonder if this will work - Sounds like an awesome product all around!

Correct me if I'm wrong but the Switronix plate looks identical to the Red plate. The Red plate has always suffered from some serious design flaws which is why it wears out so quickly overtime... I'm going Bebob Rouge. It has the IDX plate which is absolutely KILLER.. and it also has the ability to hot swap which is a bonus... Thanks guys for the feedback

The Bebob Rouge is great! If you run Element Technica then you'll need to use one of their battery plates... http://www.elementtechnica.com/products/view.php?p=48 or you could try the Deadly Cine battery plate piece. We did a review of both of these products but because we only run ET on our RED we had problems mounting it properly. The Bebob Rouge fits really well on the RED cradle... but it's the RED cradle.

Our latest configuration tho uses the Deadly Cine Cavelara and we mount the Bebob to that... it's sweet.

We are just finishing post on our review of the Deadly Cine Cavelara. It's a must for your Kit.

We haven't put the Switronix dual battery system through heavy use but it seems fairly solid. Switronix does make really great gear but if you want to go lean and mean then the Bebob ML-120 is definitely the way to go.

So Bebob fits perfect on the ET battery plate then? I'm currently using the Red battery plate mounted to the ET battery plate mounted to a Red universal mount which sits on the back of my rods.

By Battery plate I meant battery interface.

I think it works with the RED universal mount and you can sit the Bebob properly on that. If you watched our review of the Bebob you'll notice that it's sitting straight back on an ET Rod Mount adapter piece... unfortunately this was awkward and not at all functional. We just didn't have any other way to make it work (without the RED universal mount) or the Cavalera. But yes, if you look closely on our review you can see the ET battery interface http://www.elementtechnica.com/products/view.php?p=48 on the bottom of the Bebob Rouge.

Hey, anyone know how to attach the ET battery interface plate to the back of the Bebob?? The screws don't line up at all
