  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

...but this is a camera forum, so what the hey. I'm in the market for a new lens for my Mamiya M645, but I want to have a benchmark for comparing the focal lengths, so I can make sure I know what I'm getting.

What I'm looking for is someone with a DSLR to snap a couple of photos for me at various focal lengths. All of these focal lengths are based on a 35mm-sized sensor (where 50 mm = normal)

90 mm
66 mm
50 mm
33 mm
27 mm
21 mm


The photos can be of anything. You can snap some object in the room you're in, just as long as all the photos are of the same thing. I've scoured the internets for a comparison that does this, and I can't find anything. Any help is appreciated.

Why yes, it does. This is close to what I was looking for. I found similar comparisons, but they were mostly useless compared to this one.

Yeah Duclos's comparison is good as he actually took the photos with primes (Not a zoom) and not simulated it by taking a photo with the 18mm and simulating the others.
