  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Nice Review on RED101..

Right on Jay! Red 101 is an excellent overview for the various uses and setups of Red One. It pours a foundation for those seeking to accelerate their learning curve on what the camera can and can't do, and how it can be accessorized.

Disclaimer for readers of this post: I received no compensation whatsoever for my contributions to the hybrid setup segment of Red 101, and will not looking forward. Also, I'm not now nor ever have been employed by Red. I simply donated my time to my good friend Jay Kelley to help him out with his DVD. It was a great experience and I'm very happy I contributed!

Back to Adam's review. He did an excellent and balanced review of Red 101. As you'd expect, since I donated my time for the hybrid segment of Red 101, and hybrid has been my core approach to using Red ever since receiving my first Red on 8/30/07, I especially liked the following comment of his:

"The section on hybrid builds is worth the price of the DVD: it’s a reminder than you don’t need to build the camera up with follow-focuses, matte boxes, etc.; you can travel light (all things being relative, of course) and work with compact still camera lenses, pulling your own focus through the lens ENG-style."

:)

You da man Steve.. Prepare yourself, cause when I do EPIC 101 I'm draggin your ass back out here again.. But we'll allow for more fun this time!

Actually, I am hoping to include a LOT of old time REDusers in this next DVD.. I want to load it up with more, and also put more "friends" into it.

I'd like to get some RED people (Like Ted, or Jarred).. Perhaps the next time around they will be more willing.

Jay

And are you considering a Scarlet 101 to..for ultra noobs like me Jay? :-)

Yep.. I am. Because of the unique way RED has put this camera system together, we're still working on the "Blue-print" of the DVD itself.

But yes, we'll get something togehter..

Jay

That`s great news Jay!..look forward to it.. :-)

. . and by `blueprint` i assume you mean the kinda core steps/setup that define the backbone of Red shooting? .i say this hoping that might include a guide for dummies,ie play this chapter if you`re REALLY new!..much as i love spending time here at the site ,reading, learning and getting to grips with what ,if one is virgin new can seem a bit daunting, the idea of seeing such a guide will really make a huge difference.

I hope you have the RED101... It's perfect for people like you, and the RED one is similar enough that it gives you a good primer for the new cameras when they come.

Either way, my goal is to make this useful for someone that has only picked up a camera a few times. I walk you through everything

Jay
