  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Can Any one design something similar...

Hey guys, I have been trying to create this particular fill inspired by some of the incredible work done with the Supers peed Phantom cameras, however a bit costly at the moment to do, till I just seen this:

Obviously I will pay for to create the effect customized to fit my needs.

Thanks.

you can contact me also directly at ketchrossi@ketchrossihumanitas.org

Thanks a bunch Chris!!

BTW I hope that this can work with Final Cut Studio as well, as I don't have AE even so I'm contemplating getting the Master Collection CS5

I have this and the action essentials. They are just essentially Quicktimes and Jpegs that are prematted. It also has to be said that Andrew Kramer has a wicked sense of humour!

drop ink into water on a green screen and then matte the effect

shoot it in slo mo ... 120 fps would be good

but video copilot has that done and you can easily use it in FCP or AE

AE is fun and somewhat easy to learn plus its adds massive production value to your titles , credits and just about anything else

did you see zombieland ... during the movie the words would pop up and blink or fall

that can be done in AE

I'm pretty sure that smoke effect can be done fairly easily (mostly math) by a talented 3D artist in Maya or similar with latest technology?

See this video on Autodesk's site:

Thanks Michael, yeah I actually did see the Maya possibility as I first look in to it to re-create some 3D stuff, and my problem is that as soon as I see what a program can do I want it, and I end up studying my A$@! off trying to learn them all, as I'm doing now he he, I guess it all comes in handy to talk to the Pro's when time comes.

We try that too, but the ink some times does not follow the effect I look to get, and 120fps is not in off, more like 1000fps, and then you looking at getting in to 3k per day in rentals of High speed camera system.

I can't watch Horror, so no I didn't see zombieland ;~)

Hey Ketch,

An AE artist can get that Dior effect by using Trapcode Form. I used to have it and would be able to do it for you but alas it got lost in my transition to the Mac 2 years ago :(

Thanks for offering Justin.

So is Trapcode like the VC Riot? Or is it entirely different, and most importantly which one is easier to learn, he he.

One of the guys that will be coming to join my little House of Talent, has Adobe Production suit, so I imagine that will help too, but I have the FCS as well, even so I haven't learned how to use it yet.

Trapcode Form is a plugin for After Effects. Its not a difficult to use, its the same principle as Particular except there is no birth or death rate you just manipulate the fractal form to get the look you want. There is bound to be tutorials online to give you an idea.

It is probably the easiest and most effective way to do it.

Very nice.

Sure looks like real ink to me.

So... black ink in water on a white backdrop. That's a matte. Looked like multiple layers with different ink trajectories. Different layers were colored differently so you get the blue and purple thing going on.

Another cool look is mirroring the ink. Worth a try on one of the layers.

Well, that's my best guess anyway.

Hi!

Trapcode Plug ins (After Effects, Final Cut, Premiere) are much easier to learn than Maya. Maya has a real steep learning curve. Animation, Shading, Lights. I am using Maya since PowerAnimator.

Trapcode?

You will find tutorials.

you will find presets

you will find a very good tutorial how to use Trapcode Form

Stick to what you know and what gives you the results you are looking for. Certainly don't rush into Maya thinking; "this'll be a piece of cake! All I want are some simple effects, right?". Big mistake.
Then again, I don't need to say that to you, Ketch. Just making sure that no one else gets burnt that way -- I know I did when I started out with visual effects.

Generally speaking, if you know After Effects -- use after effects. If you know Maya -- use maya, then composite it together. If you know how to program the effect you want, great! Come work for me :)

You could also the video copilot movs in FCP. Just layer and lower opacity then you can use the 3way color corrector to tint the layers differently for depth or keep them the same to blend

Also with u could shoot it at high frame rates then use fcp or ae to slow it down by a good amount

I've tried to learn Maya it's an amazing tool but it's not easy at all
