Redrushes proxies

Hi,
Would someone please explain the difference between proxies made in the
Red camera and proxies made by Red rushes.

Hi Tanya, I've used both and they seemed to be identical. They certainly worked the same for me, there may be a tiny difference in the actual contents of the file, for example a different comment header, but this will not affect the way they work. What is important though is the file names match: e.g.

A001_C001_0510RB_001.R3D
A001_C001_0510RB_F.mov
A001_C001_0510RB_H.mov
A001_C001_0510RB_M.mov
A001_C001_0510RB_P.mov

Note that the first 17 characters are all the same for each file. That's important.

They are not inherently different. But you can use various RED post software to create proxies for R3D files when you had proxy creation switched off in camera (to save time). You can also change parameters such as white balance and make new proxies which reflect that.

Currently the only software which can remake proxies which reflect all build 30 parameters such as FLUT is REDcine-X.

If the proxies from Redcine-x and the Red camera are the same why would you want the facility of making them in the camera.

Does the camera make a RSX file.
