I just finished my junior year of college and I still have no job lined up for the summer. It just seems harder and harder for students especially me to find summer jobs. I was hoping I could get advice from some people about this because I would prefer to be working and learning this summer instead of wishing I was.

What kind of work are you looking for? I assume, because you are on the reduser site, you are looking for work in film.

I guarantee if you are really willing to work hard, you will find a summer job.

go up to your local market and bag groceries. I'm going to be unloading trucks and stocking shelves in a local hardware store this summer. money is money. take what you can get in this economy. its especially $#!%%y in Michigan.

I sure atleast a few of the 10% of americans that are unemployed are really willing to work hard. doesnt mean that they'll get a job though

Hang out in front of Home Depot?

Noah

Haha. Home Depot is where I'm at.

I am looking for something in the film industry but hey hanging out in front of home depot sounds like a good idea to me.
Write a goooood script. (In which on of the major locations is Home Depot) Get the script into the right hands, preferable someone with money. Then if they decide to financially support your production, you can pay yourself to hang out in front of Home Depot while you shoot your film.

Or you know, you can sit by the entrance with a tin can and a sign that says "student filmmaker" and hope to bum some quick cash off of some people that pass by.

send everybody u know a mail saying you are looking for a job. someone at some point will remember you. i worked as a bartender for 6 months then someone called me ... and thats how i got my job as a D.I.T. and a junior scratch colorist. luck..

Do what the other kids are doing...
Relocate to Bushwick, Brooklyn, share a loft with 6 other people and pay $400 a month for the summer.

Grab an internship at a camera/production/post/ house (of which NYC has plenty of). Spend 2-3 days a week doing that and another day or 2 shlepping iced coffees or waiting tables to make ends meet.
