  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

new REDCINE-X feedback

nice deanan. you guys still planning to write in a visual framing tool whereby the user could just drag each of the 4 sides of the frame to the desired new framing and then redcine-X would automatically create crop and scale numbers to make it work for easy exporting of desired framings??

Hey guys, I seem to have a problem when exporting clips out of REDCineX. My audio is coming out as two mono summed channels, mixing my lav and boom together. Any thoughts on why this is happening? Any help is appreciated.

Which build?

How about adding a "Grad ND" feature to Redcine X, like Adobe ACR has? That feature has saved my ass several times.

Few suggestions:

Detail window

- Automatic update after scrolling through a shot or keyboard shortcut for detail window refresh;

Trimmer:

- Bin > move to trimmer > move to timeline - pick with mouse or double click;

Timeline

- When trimming on the timeline - turn off the realtime auto-refresh/stick to previous shot function - it would be more fluid to do that after the trim (grab the edge type of rough trim), not during it;

Look presets:

- Look preset bin with subfolders;
- Arrange by name, date, project;

Curve editor

- Scaling ability;
- Option of histogram in the same window in the background;
- Opacity of histogram in the background;

Histogram:

- All histograms visible at the same time (stacked/side by side)

Minor issue - white strobing edges around trimmer/preview window when scaling

I am having an issue with playback on my pc, Windows XP Pro, 3Ghz processor, 4GB ram, Nvidia 9600GT graphics card with 1GB of memory. The program loads fine but when I roll over the r3d clips they will play and then go black after a few seconds. The same thing happens when I just place the clips on the timeline. Nothing I do afterwards will affect the clips playback or exporting. In fact let me try to export a clip again. I will post again afterwards.

Please if anyone has a fix for this issue can you point me in the right direction and please stickie that section so that others might be able to find it more readily.

Hi,
I have a bug that occurs (build 194 Windows) when transcoding 2K files to AAF & MXF files (DNxHD 1080p25 8-bit). At the end of each clip an error message appears:
"The instruction at "0x00336add" referenced memory at "0x04ab7dd8". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program."
The export job sits at 99% until OK is clicked, if batch exporting the next export in the queue will run but only after a long delay. The output files are fine.
I have this happen on 3 different machines, two running XP (One a single CPU, dual core. The other, a Dual CPU, 8 core total) and a server running Windows Server 2003.
We are using Redcine primarily to convert the Red files for Avid editing.

Washed out look of transcoded footage from Build 221

**Has there been a reply yet as to why footage is extremely washed out looking when transcoding from redcine-x build 221 ? Looks great while grading, but after a prores 4444 transcode it looks terrible. Anybody know? Deanan?

Thanks

When exporting quicktime 4444, batch monitor shows "98%" progress but status shows "Finished"
Other times it shows 99% progress and yet is stuck at "Running" and clip never completes.

This occurs when framing control is used to crop the clip.

This is with build 221

Put all the shots you want to batch- transcode in a bin. grade a shot. In "Look Presets" window, create an name a new look using the "+" button.
Apply that look to: Bin (all clips).
In the Export window, Export.

I get the same issue if we are talking about quicktime export. The problem is solved if you change from "automatic" gamma correction to "None" in the quicktime export settings.

Linde,
When I open up QT Export settings in B221, there are no Gamma Correction Options - any ideas?

The option should show up if you choose any of the ProRes codecs. It is not available for other codecs (unfortunately).
