Shot this tonight, inspired by Deadmike's 'Quick & Dirty Macro'

Same thing as him, Red zoom, although I rated at 800ASA and used a 150w ARRI, 18" away.

95% of this footage is scaled up by 30% or greater. I love the extra headroom.

No Redcine this time. Brief color correct in RedAlert, Quicktime_H file output to Pro-Res HQ. Cut in FCP.. I hate these Gamma issues. . :angry2:

Richard it is great macro shooting .:meh:
you have good skills and spirit to do something .and you will do better things in near future .
my advice is fro some kind of close up shooting is (steady shot). you suppose to use a tripod for this kind of shoot. good luck.
it is better to not post this on your web site as rental demo ..

    Thanks Bassam.

fyi, I'm not advertising this as demo. I'm just temporarily using my site's bandwidth because my primary site, www.richard-darge.com has not been functioning properly. a full HD version is going up to redrelay now.

I like the handheld jitters personally but yes, I agree, a good tripod needs to be purchased. I temporarily mounted the cam to my Bogen 503 head, but took it off.. Can someone loan me $11,000 so I can pay Abel Cine for a decent tripod? :usd:

Bogen 503 Head, Maximum Load Capacity, 13.2 lbs

The weight of the cam puts a lot of stress on the legs, panning & tilting tend to be jankier because gravity is having more of an influence - It works for static shots no problem.. But I wouldn't trust it without my hand being on it

Cool little test film Richard. I like the handheld feel, fits with the soundtrack. Looks like a cool TV ident for a nature show, or a macro moment from CSI

    Thanks Greg & Phil - I couldn't be happier with the Red zoom. That's a bad-ass mo-fo lens & i love shooting with it

nevermind on the r3d.. the file size is 4GB..

Our initial response in here was: 'cooool... ' (multiple voices at the same time). Nice work indeed!
