Rakesh, You will love the baby Dragon!
And so will everyone else who has one already or has ordered it!

This goes for Ryan and everyone else waiting patiently and checking your email every other second for an order update; Like it was already mentioned, this is a VERY popular camera and we need to consider that orders come in from many sources at once (authorised dealers, RED Europe, RED Hydrogen Promotion, etc) so you probably won't be able to tell just by the order number.
Since a lot of QC testing is going on, it is very likely that each batch has at least a week of testing before it moves to the next phase. Same thing happened to the Stormtroopers.

It is worth the wait 100 times over!

I expect so, or else I wouldn't have ordered it :)

The smaller batteries alone will make a big difference in how easily I can carry it, and as a result in how much I use it in the backcountry.

The wait won't be quite as much of a drag as the wait for the Scarlet-W that turned into an Epic-W, because now I have an Epic-W that I will continue to use while awaiting my baby Dragon. Dragon kitten?

I'm still excited though. I didn't want to miss out on the Hydrogen discount, or else I might have waited a little, but in the end I'll probably end up using it a LOT more than I use my Epic-W, especially for shooting stock nature and mountain footage.

All great points! I'm very excited. Already said F it and decided to put the baby dragon out of mind and plan to shoot next week's project on the S1H. This whole thing in fact has made me consider keeping the Lumix as a 6K capable B Cam, instead of selling it when the komodo arrives as I had planned.

The wait can be obnoxious, but look at the bright side... Red's estimating 4-6 weeks, but it took Black Magic around six or seven MONTHS to catch up with the preorders for its Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. :)

Plus a bunch of the people who'd normally be in line ahead of us skipped the line by snagging Stormtroopers.

Of course, it helps a great deal to have a camera already so you're not champing at the bit quite as much. I'm looking forward to using it for adventuring though. It will be an excuse to take advantage of my new alpine bivy :)

Just want to chime in regarding serial numbers. I visited a dealer in Costa Mesa that took delivery of 10 cameras. The serial numbers were 850 apart from lowest to highest.
    REDucated June 2012

    Scarlet-X #2098 (donated)
    Raven #61 (sold)
    Komodo ST #234
    Komodo #7715

    Hi YouTube!

That certainly reflects the higher than expected demand for the Komodo, as well as the expected randomness of serial number ordering relative to order fulfillment. They probably don't try to keep the serial numbers in order once the cameras are in their boxes. :)
