HIVE 200-C - SUMMER GROUP BUY!!!

    Dear Reduser friends and colleagues,

We're *big* fans of Hive, and love hanging w/ Co-Founder Jon Miller. Every time he stops by our studio we learn something new, and get to see something *really cool*.

During our last hang out he showed us the new Hive 200-C, and we were blown away: more than twice as bright as the 100-C, reasonably priced, fully RGB LED, and controllable via wireless DMX. It's like having a high-tech Joker 200 that's fully dimmable and capable of producing over a million colors. A kit of these could do *a lot of damage*.

We instantly thought the Hive 200-C was a *perfect* candidate for a group buy - and are super stoked with what Jon and the team at Hive are offering!!

Here's a great image of the light itself:

This is a great visual showcasing Hive's expanded LED array (and how they handle the subtleties of color):

And here's a nice view of the controls on the back, especially DMX:

And here are the details of the group buy running this month:

    SCHEDULE
Group Buy runs all of August, and ends August 31. Lights can be picked up or shipped via AbelCine's offices in LA, Chicago or NY in September after group buy closes.

    Nick,

This looks really interesting. Thanks in advance for sharing the opportunity.

    First couple of questions for the Hive team;

Does the DMX incorporate RDM for two way communication?

When accessing via DMX, are all selections available via the manual menu addressable?

Within the menu, do "gels" match manufacturers designations?
If so whose? i.e. ROSCO, Lee...

Is an Android app under development?
(Reason being interfacing with a Hydrogen for control)

    Cheers!

    Quick testament to these lights:

We were super early in the pre-order and already received our first 4x 200-C. Best light we've ever purchased. Incredibly bright for such a small light, beautiful full temperature and RGB rendition. Good enough that we literally ordered 10x of these lights.

    Hey Nick,

How do you like these mixing with your SkyPanels as far as color accuracy and quality?

Hey Louis, we mix them all the time. Almost on every shoot. Works totally fine.

    Hi Brian,

It is Jon Miller from Hive Lighting here. Nick asked me to jump in whenever I saw a technical question I might be able to help with, I will try to check back regularly to make sure I get to any further questions, but really quickly.

RDM - YES, the DMX on the Hornet 200-C is RDM enabled for two way communication. Our wireless DMX is CRMX (Lumen Radio). Currently the DMX profile is set up as a 4 channel profile for Channel 1 - Dim, 2 - CCT, 3 - Hue, 4 - Saturation. We are developing and will release before the end of the year at least two new DMX profiles Dim, R,G,B,CCT and another that will access the pre-programmed effects currently available via the manual menu. We are also looking at options like X,Y controls and a couple other DMX profile options which we you can update remotely via firmware. We are also always open to suggestions, so feel free to make requests here on the forum!

We do not have preset "gels". Our source presets are things like High Pressure Sodium, Yellow Traffic Light, Cool White Fluorescent, etc. The reason we have not included Gels is that frankly when testing with various other manufacturers and the actual Gels from Rosco and Lee on a non-LED lights don't match from manufacturer to manufacturer. Rather than pick a side we recommend you use our S.H.O.T. controls to match the fixture you are using on set that day, whether a Skypanel, Gemini, Kino, Cineo, etc.

Yes the Android App is under development as we speak, currently we are finishing adding the effects to the iOS app and then will migrate all of it to a Android version as well.

    Hope this helps!

    Jon
