Default New RED MetaData .RMD format

For me - one of the cool new things I learned about at saturday's RED DAY was the new .RMD format. I'm very interested in learning more about this format. Can anyone at RED tell us if this is going to be an open format (like XML) or closed format?

Open format. It's XML but it'll be a defined structure with specific blocks for 3rd party metadata. The first use will be primary looks and we'll add the other fields over time.

It'll first show up just for looks and then we'll start adding more capabilities to RCX and then the SDK.

Sounds great.

Seems like this has great potential to connect /sync to the data I create with the Movie*Slate iphone app logging feature via wifi. Very handy when 2nd AC'ing. No more scrawly paper notes to type up, automated entry into the database and it will travel with the footage files wherever they go (as long as no one messes up and doesn't copy them).

In fact you could probably just sync up directly via the Filemaker database via wifi and a plugin on set as you go along..

Me likes how you use these digital technologies to improve our workflows Sirs.

(p.s. sorry if I'm starting to sound slightly crazy, I must be about ten hours behind on my sleep)

Hello,

unfortunately i don't have a R1 here so I could test myself. I'd like to know, how to generate "looks" (either in RED Alert, RC or RCX) and transfer them to the camera. Is this possible? Can i upload the .RSX / .RMD files to the camera? If so, what type of settings is stored in those files and can be accessed or will be reflected by the camera? Is it just exposure saturation and brightness? Or could i alter every single setting in RCX's image section store this in the .RMD and upload to the camera?

Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks!
