Default RPAs...

Tonight we are announcing the development of the RPAs (RED Pro Anamorphics). They will match color, optical quality and mechanical performance characteristics with their little brothers... the RPPs. The weight of the RPAs is expected to be within 1/2 pound of the RPPs.

Initial set will consist of:

35mm T2.4
50mm T2.4
85mm T2.4
100mm T2.4

A 25mm T2.4 is also being studied.

Delivery of the 4 lens set is expected by year's end... although you know the schedule drill.

Prices will be slightly higher than RPPs.

I know that I'm only going to end up getting 2 RPPs (because students have no money), and still I ask...
Pics?

Maybe someone can clarify. I was under the impression that the RPPs wouldn't project an image circle wide enough to cover the FF 35mm model. But wouldn't these RPAs have to do so to be of any use?

I'm just thinking back to when people were asking if Red would ever do anamorphics, and the response was that there wouldn't be enough demand for them. I don't know what changed, but I'm happy! Streaky flares and elliptical bokeh FTW!

Leaning towards 1.33x or 2x squeeze?

A 25mm would be a particularly excellent treat.

Yeah!!! Will it work for the 2/3's Scarlet. If so, I'm going to need a few of those.
