Default BC LOGGERS documentary shot in the Canadian Rockies

Hi guys,

thought IŽd share some impressions of our documentary shoot in British Columbia, Canada. Produced and shot this for ARTE, a German and French network for their series GEO this summer. The film is 52 min. and premieres October, 10th.

Shot entirely on RED, using RED zooms 18-50mm, 50-150mm, Zeiss HS 18,50,85mm.

Postpro on FCP in Cineform 4:2:2 1080p.

Carrying the heavy beast trough the wilderness of the Rockies was a pain in the ass, but the footage was worth it !!

Incredible. I wish this would be possible to achieve something similar with the fixed Scarlet. Very beautiful. The first picture reminded me of the forrest shot from Antichrist.

Well thanks ! I wish I could have done it with the light configuration of EPIC X. It was extremely exhausting. Jarred told me at IBC he couldnŽt believe we did this with the RED 1

Thanks Stephen !

WeŽve been filming the whole movie around the area of Revelstoke. It was the last remaining helicopter logging operation in Canada due to the economic crisis. Beautiful place indeed !

Hi Jon,

thanks !

We used the RedDrive mostly, with ET shock mount. It was the right choice for documentary work with long takes. For aerial shots we used the 16GB Red CF cards, it was obviously too shaky for the drives, had a couple of dropped frames during testing, even with the ET mount. When the camera was mounted to or used inside logging trucks, we also went with lighter configurations and CF cards.
