Having seen early prototype mock-ups - I have to say when I had the chance to spend a little time with Jarred earlier today with the new prototype - it completely surpassed my expectations.

I LOVE the dual CF module that allows recording to span from one card to another and allows you to "hot-swap" while shooting. When the 32G CFs ship - this is going to be just awesome. I was also struck by how small the brain is with the EVF/LCD / CF module on the side - which is all you need to shoot - PERFECT for the forthcoming mid-sized ET 3D rig. I also dig the fact that the EVF connection is the SAME connection for the LCD and you can run THREE at any time. 1 EVF + 2 LCDs, 2EVFs + 1LCD, ETC. - also cool that you can power from Red Brick, or smaller batteries in a module - or battery in the handle.

I don't think I can find words for how excited I am about this camera and how impressed and proud I am of the entire RED team.

EPIC-X is going to CRUSH.

Mark,

That's some great news. I'm surprised no one else is reporting about the RED presentation this morning! Where are all the photos and in-depth analyses of Jim's words?

Well ... you know how it goes ... everything subject to change. But EPIC is just waiting for ASIC. First spin due in about a week. Fingers crossed. Jim did a great Q&A - really expressed how much FUN he (and the RED team) are having on this wild ride.

I love his line "yesterday I knew nothing, today I know a little, tomorrow I might be dangerous".

I think it's fair to say Jim is ... dangerous. In the very BEST way.

Now I'm as excited about the Epic as I was about the RED One, which is saying a lot.

First and for all I must thank mr.Jim and Jarred especially for allowing us to get the opportunity to see the epic coming alive and I must say the camera will be incredible.

they have tried to answer all the questions and they have been really helpfull to all of us at IBC.

thanks a lot for this both of you.

Hey that's great !
Do you know if it will this time be possible to have different settings on each one ? I mean, for example, 1:1 magnification on the assistant's LCD, clean signal in the EVF and false color in the 3rd LCD ? + TC / file name overlay on one of the HD-SDI outs ?

If the first spin is in about a week...can you imagine if right off the bat it just works?! BE BRILLIANT! but as always tweaks here and there...so maybe its a reality that some will ship in 1st Q 2010
