Default JETLEV (Water-propelled Jet Pack!)

Might as well throw it out there...

I would like to introduce my Father's (Raymond Li) invention called the JetLev. If no one has already seen or heard about this yet, the JetLev made it's official Internet premiere about 1 month ago.

It's a water-propelled jet pack that can fly up to 5hours on one tank of fuel, fly up to 40' (current model), and up to 60km/hr in speed. He has officially worked on it for over 5 years. Facing the scrutiny and doubt from many friends, family, and the general public, he pushed on and on until after many prototypes and 1000's of safety shakedown tests later, his childhood dream of flying had finally come true. He proved everyone wrong.

Mostly for recreational/sport purposes but a number of commercial applications as well (Search & Rescue, Bridge Inspection, Anti-piracy, etc.).
It is currently and initially being marketed and pre-sold to chartered and mega-yacht owners before it hits resorts globally.

Since it's official Public unveiling at the Dusseldorf "Da Boot" international boat show in Germany a little more than a month ago and from the recent Internet launch, there has been an insane amount of buzz and interest worldwide so far.

Check it out @:

JETLEV.COM OR JETLEV-FLYER.COM

Enjoy.

Not yet! A few years ago, I shot some video of his very first frankenstein prototype for a little promo video but we had a hose problem, which stopped us from continuing any shooting at the time after about 2 hours of flying. I was hoping to try it then, but never had a chance to. It was based out of Florida/Newfoundland but currently being commercially manufactured out of Germany.

How long can that hose be (the one the pack is tethered to)? Anyway, looks like a lot of fun. With the tether and the water source requirements, 40' max, etc.. It's use for utilitarian purposes will be a bit limited. But I would think the recreational market will eat this up! Sign me up, I'm ready to try it out!

The current model for safety reasons is 40' max. It can certainly go higher and perhaps in later models when we see how people are adapting to the 40' model, there'll be the option to go to 60-80'. This all depends on how heavy the pilot is of course.

Arrinick, what did you lose your bet on? :)

Just last night I bet a VFX guy that the video online was bullshit. He said it looked real to him, I said there is no way you can generate the energy required to lift a guy, plus all the wieght of the water in the supply hose, with that dinky little back pack......At least I was right about that part ;-)

Very cool.
