Does anyone know of a working method for this workflow?
So far I've tried exporting EDLs from Avid, but I run into problems on the import in Premiere Pro. If I export from Avid with the modified 16 character EDL Premiere Pro imports an empty timeline, on the other hand if I export a standard CMX_3600 EDL I get a timeline, but all the clips have the unusable 8 character names (the last 8 characters are chopped off), which are not helpful when trying to re-link with the original R3D files. Maybe EDLs are the wrong way to go? Honestly I don't care how it works as long as I can cut in Avid and use CS4 as my finishing suite. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Premiere Pro can import a FCP .XML timeline.
So maybe Avid -> FCP -> Premiere Pro? A bit convoluted I know... but I have done high-quality Avid -> FCP conversions with Automatic Duck before. Bruce Allen www.boacinema.com |

I don't really mind that its a bit convoluted, everything is at least a little convoluted with the current Red Workflow (at the low end that is). As long as its frame accurate and repeatable I'll be happy. :) If you get a chance to test it out with Automatic Duck please let me know what you find. Thanks! |
