what is the lens diameter needed to cover 5k 2.1? (or how do I calculate it... long time since I had math...)

the new Cooke s5´s, are 30mm according to the website... pretty sad if they vignette in 5k...

This link http://reduser.net/forum/showpost.ph...3&postcount=83 has the answers you seek... And yes, Cooke 5/i can handle RED 5K guaranteed in all but one shooting configuration (and likely in that one, need to test). :-)

Default lenses to cover the future EPIC FF35 ?

Something bothers me when I think about buying new lenses today...

What kind of lens will be able to cover the future EPIC FF35 Monstro? I mean... If we already have vigneting with the new RPZ 17-50... ?

Are there any Pl mount lenses out there that will do the job?
Does red have plans to make such lenses in the future?
Or will we be stuck with photo lenses, like canons ?

Zeiss Compact primes will cover FF35, plus the Van Diemen Leica conversions.

Red has said they will have the first of their FF35 Electronic zoom lenses out before the end of this year. 24-75mm with OLED markings.
These are not rehoused photo lenses. They are made from the ground up for Stills and Motion and will also work better than any other lenses with the Auto Focus and Touch Focus Tracking.

Thanks for the answer, Stephen and Curran!

Besides the zooms, does anyone know how much the RED PRO PRIMES cover? In 5K? And in future 6K (24*36) ???

Try this:

http://web.me.com/ducloslenses/DataRef/ImgCir.html

Together with this:

http://reduser.net/forum/showpost.ph...3&postcount=83

And for Full Frame (6K), this:

FF35 - 6000 x 4000 - 6k
36x24mm Monstro
native 3:2 aspect ratio, approx 43mm diagonal,
6 micron pixels, approx: 24mpx, 0 crop factor. (FF DSLR)

The FF35 diagonal is for the full sensor, however, I'm not sure that too much is known about Monstro yet, such as windowed recordable area sizes. FF still lenses (as opposed to EF-S and DX lenses) are designed to cover the 43mm diagonal, which is why Zeiss Compact primes will work, since their design is based on the ZF/ZE stills lenses. RED have also said that their electronic AF lenses will cover FF35:
