Hi everyone!
Just wanted to share the joy that our movie "Caracremada" has been selected to be in the Orizzonti section of "La Biennale di Venezia". We shot the movie with almost no resources last July, only with a lot of passion and my own RED ONE #4057 and the 18-50mm RED Zoom. The movie is also selected for the San Sebastian Festival section "Made in Spain". The film is about Ramón Vila Capdevila, a.k.a. Caracremada (Burnedface), one of the last "maquis" (spanish guerrilla fighters during the first years of Franco's dictatorship) that was fighting on his own with no support from any political group in the exile. It's about resistance, real resistance. Not epic at all except for the intentions of the character, who keeps on fighting in a war lost a long time ago. A man with a mission of his own. We are joyful 'cause it's a first time for most of us in the team to be in such High Class Festivals, but what I enjoyed the most was when we presented the film to the people who where expecting a prosumer HD made movie and they find themself asking how did we get the money to shot it in 35mm. ![]() We shot in a lot of differents situations: from cold snowy mountains to hot sunny like desert places; and the camera never let us down, even when working non-stop for hours. Watching the director wait for RedRushes to export an Apple ProRes daily before going to sleep made me quite proud to convince them to do it with RED instead an HVX200. We were all amazed with the image richness of the M sensor! (I can't wait to get the M-X upgrade!) Today we finish the grade in DCP to be sent to Venezia. We have had not much time, but we have been able to see where the M image information can get you with a cool CC machine: simply amazing! I want to thank everyone on this forum whose threads and comments let me learn a lot more from the camera than anyone could expect and, of course, to the RED TEAM who did this camera and let us, people with few resources, have access to a non compromised quality image! Thanks, especially, to my bomb squad rep, Haley Peralta, who did quite a lot of amazing tricks that solved almost every problem we had with some stuff we needed! ----- Jordi Figueras Bagué, DP |

Hey, this is a great story. You got your foot in that festival, and that's a very good sign that you're on the right track with your art. Keep up the good work, and keep us informed.
felicitaciones! |

Congratulations, Jordi!!
it seems like a terrific line-up this year...Aronofsky, Coppola, Affleck(s), Coppola, Rodriguez, and so many more! (not to mention Tarantino as president of the jury). Looks like you'll be in great company! |

Thanks Jaadgy and Francesco!!
We are quite excited about it. Even more, the production company that took care of the movie once we did it, is going to pay our voyage to the Premiere! :D I'm really curios about how it will look on a big screen. Today we finished the CC and I felt we needed a couple more days to have it right, but I walked away quite happy with the results in such a short time. Hope you can see it one day and that you like it, at least the cinematography! ;) --------- Jordi Figueras Bagué, DP |
