...does this include HDMI and HD-SDI outputs or just the RED monitor(s) and EVF?

I notice the resolution of the UI sample you've posted is 800x480 - is that a genuine capture or just a mock-up? Will there be any flexibility in the output format - ie. will there be any standard XGA, SXGA or 720p options for third-party monitors?

Very,very impressive features. Factory electronic remote follow focus is great, but touch track focus and face detection in cine mode is mad crazy! Camera tracking metadata burned in really sets the bar for the tool for the future. :)

You can see the DOF effect (or lack thereof) produced by a smaller sensor simply by cropping into an image. Shoot 4K on the RED One. Then switch to 2K and shoot the same shot two different ways. First change the lens to a different focal length to achieve the same framing, then using the same lens as with 4K reposition the camera to achieve the same framing. Compare your DOF.

But everything else you wrote is pretty much spot on. It's just a common misconception that sensor size actually has a direct effect on DOF. I think a lot of people are far too concerned with DOF and how to achieve shallow DOF, especially on a 2/3" sensor. Many Hollywood films are shot on 2/3" cameras these days and no one seems to notice.

Here's a quick example. It's a goofy example in that it's shot 3K, so between 2/3" and S35 frame size, but fairly wide focal length and moderate aperture.

Here's some good examples of screen grabs from Zodiac, which was shot with the Viper and DigiPrimes. I'd also like to note that the DigiPrimes have a T-Stop of 1.6, where as the mini-RED Primes are T-1.5. So these are definitely going to be some awesome lenses that can provide a really nice shallow DOF.

Hello Jarred, great announcement. I love the Redmote.

So with the Redmote Pro we'll be able to pull focus with a the Epic-X with canon lenses, right?

If so, will there be a way to run it in wired mode, instead of wireless when we want to place the Redmote in different places near to the camera? Basically I am saying this because most of the times the follow focus operator will be on the side of the camera. And just being so close to the camera, would be nicer to have a way to use the Redmote not in wireless mode and the the power from the camera.

Also one concern is that the follow focus knob seems a bit small compared to other professional knobs. I wonder how easy is to pull focus with it and also if it is possible to take the white ring out and replace it with others.

Yes you can use it on Epic to pull focus on Canon/Nikon Lenses.

The knob is aprox. 2.5" in diameter, there are some similar sized knobs on the market and it feels really good in your hand. The white ring is replaceable.

The Battery on the Redmote should last an entire day. When it is on the back of the camera it charges itself as well.

I'm sorry if I'm being repetitive and boring, but...

I've asked a few times on this thread if there is going to be a PL mount adapter for the Scarlet.

Three other people have asked as well.

But there has been no answer.

No PL mount adapter is mentioned in the Nov 30 update or price list.

This would surely be the most useful adapter, given the easy availability of 16mm lenses.

(The Scarlet will come with a mini-PL mount, which I understand is not the same.)

Can anyone confirm that we will be able to use 16mm glass?

You most probably already are BUT it doesn't hurt to ask again, if that's the case. Please make it as versatile as the know on a ARRI RCU as well so we can use it for speeds and ramps, with shutter compensations etc.
