scarlet super35 uses the same sensor as epic-x and epic super35 which is obviously already done

both scarlet 2/3" obviously use the same chip which makes them easy to put out at the same time

I think RED is withholding information on ff35 right now because they likely cannot give an accurate time frame or pricing right now. Just like they withheld information on oct. 30th when they weren't ready with scarlet info.

While it may seem disappointing I think it's better than feeding you information which is not only subject to change but is almost completely certain to change.

I expect that when the monstro ff35 is getting closer to completion they will give out information on the epic and scarlet models in waves similar to this. The upside is that until then you will be able to determine exact pricing on modules, mounts, and other things you will need until then.

Hey! Well that settles it. Scarlet HAS to be released before your birthday so you can be off on your birthday, right?

thanks, I was talking to my roommate tonight when you answered my last wave of questions.

I was telling him how frustrated I was that I didn't have anyone to talk to about the new developments (in the real world not internet).

I was able to explain to him what I like about red. He wears quicksilver wetsuits for surfing. I said to him "If I expected Quicksilver to listen to my inputs on wetsuits, and ask them direct questions and expect direct answers what would you say"

he said "I'd say your f***ing high"

then I told him about how top level guys at RED answer our questions here, and for once he kind of understood why I was so psyched about this company...

anyway, just lettin you know I appreciate how open you guys all are and how much time you spend on these forums with us

So this means new 16 GB cards or 32 GB Cards before the new cameras are released?

Jarred, just few question regarding this:

Quote:
32. Rugged aluminum or magnesium body
- Does this mean that we can choose?
- Will there be a price difference?
- How much lighter will be the magnesium version (providing there is one...)?

Thanks buddy...

Peter

I haven't done the maths. I'm sure others have, but I guess that a 35mm still lens focal angle will be at least doubled when used on the Scarlet.
Also, one will only be using the centre portion of the lens, and the lens was not designed for this.
The only lenses I can think of that should be instantly compatible are those designed for 2/3 inch video cameras, machine vision cameras, or 16mm cameras.
The problem with the 2/3 inch video camera lenses is that many weren't designed for high-definition and won't have the required resolution.
But machine vision lenses or 16mm lenses should be quite usable.

The common mounts for these are 'C' mount, PL-mount, and maybe Arri bayonet or Aaton mounts.

May I suggest that if there is a schedule for releasing lens mounts that 'C'mount and PL mount will be far more useful and should take priority over the Nikon and Canon mounts.

At the moment, in the Nov 30 announcement, no mention is made of PL or 'C' mount, which is surprising.

Paul
Pl mounts come standard....canon and nikon will be very useful on the first released cameras epic-x and epic s35 so it is definitely important they be available when these models come out

I expect the mini-pl mounts will come out at the same time as the scarlet cinema 2/3" as long as the entire set of primes is read by then too.

C mount I would guess be around soon after the release because really all it has to be is a plate that screws onto the front of the camera that has the correct size threading on it.

the nikon and canon mounts mentioned earlier take much more work because they include an interface to utilize electronic nikons and canons.

No new 16GB cards..

REDCODE 100 is going to be 1.8" SSD territory.
