I just can't share that sentiment. They are excellent for the price point, but perfection? Really?

Perfection will be my hands wrapped around an EPIC-X, shooting RAW images with an easily interchangeable lens mount, while recording great audio, and ripping through an accessible, integrated workflow. And delivering via my RedRay...

Coming soon to a theater near you.

Thank you for the update. Keep setting the bar high and striving for excellence.

Agreed, The DSLR's are far from perfect but they are selling well. I know of a whole segment of shooter, mainly stills guys and gals, who are gushing over the DSLR video thing. Many of them don't know better, they just see HD and think "cool". They haven't played with the big toys so they don't know what they are missing. Canon is selling a lot of 5D mk2's these days

"They" are developing the future slowly but surely, huh?... EXACTLY... like barely upgrading their cameras and making you buy it again... and again... and again... thats not innovation, thats called taking advantage of a captive audience... RED is completely disrupting the market... statements like this remind me of Albert Einstein quote.

VDSLR = Flip Mino HD with 35mm Lens Adaptor.

That said, I will be in the market to buy a camera before Scarlet hits, most likely. I will probably get a 5D2. But I really, really don't want to after shooting the last few projects at work with a R1. Sigh.

Really? Where did you come up with this figure? Can we see some actual numbers in comparison?

Also, Panavision does not sell cameras they only rent them so they are not floating around out there with anyone with a credit card. And are we talking just Genesis and D21 or all of their cameras? If you look at most of the professional film, commercial or tv shoots going on today you will see Panavision and Arri on the majority of them wether it's digital or film.

You could have 1000000000 Red cameras out there but if they are not being used what is your point?

Don't forget Panavision also has the "Panavised" Sony cameras too.

You might want to re-think this statement.
