In the middle of a long take, will I be able to recover this somehow?

I think you need to give a little more info here. Also, you may want to call out to any local RED users near you.

Take was about 20m long. What other info would you need?

It's unclear what you are asking. Is your Epic inoperable, or are you asking if the last take is recoverable?

I think Ben means how did your Epic die... as that might be linked to your problem.

Footage wise, have you tried to play the SSD? Can you power up your Epic and eject the mag?

It's possible there's footage on there - but you might need Redundead.

As Ben said, more info would get more ideas... hope all is good, will keep fingers crossed :)

Edit - ahh - I see Ben beat me to it - must type faster! :)

Battery died in the middle of a take. Epic is good, footage is gone.

It might be recoverable - don't format the mag and try Redundead.

Try REDundead (it's on red.com somewhere... or search for it...) It's mac only, but should see the file on the mag. Whether it's corrupt or not we won't know until you pull it off the card. At 20mins, if it is corrupt, I would hope it's only the last "4gb" portion of the clip (the one that was being written at the time of power off).
