  1. #1 I predict a price increase for the camera body in 3...2...1...
I am a bit fascinated to see just how soon and by how much a guy like Jim will increase the price of his product. I mean, the dollar has been doomed for a long time but now that it is in its next "leg down" my interest has peaked to a higher level. People paying with Euros must be ecstatic.

I guess $19.995 would seem the next logical step but that does not seem like much. Perhaps mid 20's by this time next year?

If you think about it, putting a reservation on a RED body now you are getting ahead because the body was priced based on the strength of the dollar from a few years ago. Of coursce Jim is a man of the world so I assume he did predict some loss of value of the USD and priced the product accordingly, but quite likely not enough to compensate for the steep decline that has since occurred.

Ok I just talked myself into putting in another reservation or two. LOL!

The weak dollar increases exports; I don't understand your logic?
RED is in the USA, and they operate with USD.

Inflation baby, inflation :) And do you think all the parts/materials are from USA? This is 2008 not 1950.

$17,500.00USD in 2007 has the same buying power as $17,815.49USD in 2008.

I don't quite see that as desperately crying out for a price increase, especially given the fact that with higher quantities, manufacturing costs are lower.

I think RED one is a loss-leader for the Scarlet, thus no price increase in the immediate future. The R & D will be charged off to the RED one and much of what has been learned will be utilized by Scarlet. And Scarlet will sell because of the continuing popularity of the RED one.

Next year they'll be up way higher.

Still, I don't think they'll increase the price.
November 3rd is likely to be the most watched day in Reduser history. It will be well worth it.

    Good point.

Anyway, I will bump this thread one year from today. I expect 2008 to be an interesteing ride.

In the mean time I am grabbing some more res spots because it seems to be one of the more sound currencies at the moment.

This may all change because of the stimulus act that is going to take place. Were taking out a loan from china of some obtuse number of 6 billion dollars or something to give every American money to spend on Chinese products. It will only work if you spend the money, not put it in savings. Bush thinks that if everyone has more money, we will spend it, therefore stimulating the economy. I don't know what it will actually do but yeah, just thought id throw that in the mix.
