What is the Best Media Used for Theatrical Release. In Other words, Hard Drive and What Format, Blueray, DVD, and What Format is Exported for FILM Print?

Does not have to Be VEGAS Specific, But I Just Purchased VEGAS 12 PRO.

For a theatrical release you currently need a DCP (Digital Cinema Package) in most cases. A few theaters may be able to play BluRay, but usually prefer DCPs due to higher quality and color depth. If you need more info, follow our links below, as we are the vendor of "FinalDCP". DCPs are typically moved on harddisks, as you have typically like 1-2 GByte/Minute in size.

If you need a film print, well, then typically you have to send a single frame sequence like DPX files. Or, if the company has a Lasergraphics filmrecorder, you can use a Quicktime file directly too. You have to negotiate the supported codecs with the lab then.

Online you can find free DCP encoders. :)
We did a test for our up in coming film from multiple formats, Prores, DPX, Tiff, Animation... all worked perfectly.
Ill hunt down the link.

Or you try FinalDCP, as its much simpler to use ;-)

You can try the FinalDCP FREE Edition first and compare yourself. Take into account how many hours you may need to get rolling with the freeware tools compared to FinalDCP...
