    I am a bit confused.
    when i download the red footage to my mac, there is this .RDM folder and then inside of that is an .RDC folder and then again a series of .R3D files which are of different serial numbers (ie.. ending with A-0001, A-002 etc.) but all identical.
    any idea why and how to manage this?
    thank you in advance for taking time out of your busy schedule to respond.

    RDM = RED Mag Number
    RDC = RED Clip Number
    R3D are sequential because RED MAGS are formatted in FAT32, this filesystem format is to keep REDMAGs compatible with both MAC and PC, as each R3D file has a sequential 001, 002, in the end and will not be more than 4.3GB, as FAT32 does not allow larger files to be made or read, so that they remain MAC and PC compatible.

    REDCINE-X or software that are compatible only need to fselect the first .R3D to read the whole video.

    If you have more questions regarding this, I am sure its in Scarlet's manual.

    But do let me know f you need to know more.

    all the files are important, keep them where they live and dont play with the file structures when you copy over the mags. also finder copies can corrupt and you should do playback before you wipe the mags, or at least scrub em. there are programs like r3d data manager that do check sums to make sure the copy was correct. if you want to log the clips do it the NLE and not on the files themselves...
