80mm Cap $.99

From my understanding the material of lens caps and especially the cap for the camera, should be based on material that allows for the least amount of dust, while de-mounting it. (Which not means that expensive ones are always made out of better material.)
On the other hand, creating the mold for such is expensive and the amount of caps created with the mold, a factor in the price. But yes, sometimes little parts feels a little bit over priced, compared to a mass market.
Ive owned a bunch of ARRI 80mm caps. Nothing special about the material, just tough flexi-plastic. Of course, when you pay a lot $$ for this stuff you always have to find a way to justify why its worth it :-)
ordered the .99 cent caps last night.
I found it, but no 80mm:

I order here from time to time step up or down rings. They are very responsive if something goes wrong.
OK.. just got the caps i ordered for 99c each....
they are PERFECT!
why anyone would spend 20+ $ for a stupid lens cap is beyond me..
(disclaimer: I'm the owner of Cordvision and I sell the Cordvision Caps)
I got curious about the 99 cent caps and ordered a bunch, and all I can say is that they are super low quality and don't fit well. They are made of very thin and soft plastic. I thought that I could offer them as a low cost alternative for my Cine Rings because I ran into a shortage of my own caps, but I definitely won't. There is a reason why the other caps, including mine, cost a little more...
I have Arri caps from getting my lenses modded by Duclos and I have Cordvision caps from Michael. Both are very good quality. Michael's are considerably less expensive. I don't think I'd bother with 99 cent caps but I haven't seen them.
