    I'm on Build 3.2.13
using a Pix 240 or AJA KI miniPro for ProRes conversions (depended upon which was available which day)...
We just shot a job entirely at 100 fps (project rate 23.97) thus I had to acquire the ProRes files via camera playback.
This was a beauty shoot with lots of lens flares and bright sparkley stuff...and when playing back from the Epic, the image would tear/split.
    Crazy!
i tried to restart playback on those particular clips...same thing.
It got to the point that playing back was simply impossible and we are having to pay the post house to do these conversions out of our own pockets.
    So...what gives?
    Is it this particular build?
I've heard so many horror stories about newer builds that I am afraid to experiment on them whilst being on the clock and being paid to have a working camera system.
Any remedies? Or do i have to shoot everything with flat/bland lighting?

I know this is probably not what you want to hear right now Jeff but,,,Im kind of the same thinking as I have had to learn the hard way to only use non beta versions for the real deal. And maybe even waiting for the build to be out there for a while to make sure there is not any problems when it is used in mass...
I load the beta versions on shoots that I can go back and have a mulligan but never on the, this is the only time we can get this shoots anymore.

I've never seen that before. Sounds like you should contact RED and send in your log file. I would advise to stick to the release versions for professional work. Betas are betas for a reason and there is rarely a feature on the beta that you HAVE to have for your shoot at this point in the evolution of the Epic.

Playback is great when it works, but 30-40% of the time is doesn't work flawlessly and you get things like this. There is room for improvement and more stability of the playback mode...Ive had enough moments with clients waiting for playback and the camera failing and i have to switch a few times between playback and live mode before it works, please red get this fixed!

if its tearing apart / split on the hdsdi out - ive seen that on various build not only beta. It usually occurs after you magnify.

try the Different 50/60 hertz - try turning off the hdmi - try the different out put settings "clean.. etc"
