Yes, Im in the wild again...

Yes, Jarreds little hints give us a slimmer of hope from time to time... but really - the RED silence on this thread is very disappointing. How many +1's does it take for a company like RED to ignore such a well needed accessory. (s)

RED EPIC OWNER OPERATORS / USERS that like to keep there kits small and efficient are the real spenders in this RED world. Big horse power modules like the MM are great for the small amount of guys that want them... and the MM is awesome !! But the EPIC masses want to keep there cameras small and powerful (this is originally why we bought EPICS)
So a small PRORES or DNXHD module (hopefully with a couple of audio ports on the other side of it and Xtra EVF port) will sell like absolute hot cakes... I'm unsure why the silence.

and it being called a TOIA MODULE has a ring to it. :) kidding.... But I'd rather it get called the YAWMIT ( You - asked - we - made - it )

IMO the single weakest link to the Epic as a production camera is the lack of a touch screen and EVF functionality at the same time......really? This mini module would alleviate this issue and "fix" the other issue we all have on occasion, quick turnaround edits.

    VERSION 2.

Jim and Jarred are probably fueling the jet to come and punch me in the face for causing such a stir on this subject.... But I'll take the hits for chance of this thing being made.

After having a good long hard think about my personal requirements and reading the hundreds of threads on the last PRO IO MINI thread I started... I think its best not to try jam pack it with every single option, as that is what the MEIZLER MODULE is designed to do.
This little baby is only for the thousands of us that want to keep the cameras small and powerful. With this module comes full size Audio inputs / extra EVF and 4k/2k proxies files simultaneous with R3D's...

Let the big movie guys get the big rigs with all the bells and whistles I say, and the power to them. We applaud RED for making things like the MEIZLER MODULE available to them.... but now its time for the little guys, the 80% of us who want to keep things small and functional. This is why we all bought into RED EPIC (including the amazing image quality of course)
PRO RES for instant editing is what saved ARRI... If it was just a RAW camera it would be as dead as the D21 is a long time ago... we all know this. So to have a small and PRORES (or DNXHD) in a tiny module (as well as proper audio inputs) - that would be the last thing to we (i) will need to say out loud. "PERFECT"
Actually the RED PLAYBACK IS WAHT MADE THE CAMERA PERFECT FOR ME.... this will top it off.

I know I know this could be a ridiculous request for RED... but when I see sound pix and Samurais sort of doing it... and knowing that RED are the kings of shrinking horse power into little boxes... I totally think RED can do this.

Thank you again Jim and Jarred in advance.

Hands up! :) and if it allowed the use of the side handle and redvolts to power it, the better! If it means 15 minutes of redvolt run time, so be it!

+1 more. I have no plan to buy the Pro I/O, specifically because of size.

One more vote for a mini O/I module! The original Red One had a second EVF/Monitor port & positive lock professional audio connectors built into the camera body. You would think these features would have been built into the Epic camera body unfortunatly they aren't. To make up for these omissions, Red needs to make a very small simple module on the Epic that include the second EVF/monitor port, professional audio connectors & accessory power connectors. The Pro I/O Module footprint is way too large for the unique Epic camera design.

I decided today to stop my Miezler order... Even though its a great box I just wont use it to its full potential and the size of the EPIC will end up to big and heavy for my needs.

i'm staying small... and praying the RED TEAM bring out a mini.

Till then, no more RED expenditure. (except for dragon sensor)
