From NAB i was very interested in these new Canon Prime lenses

    EF Mount only

Price was supposed to be $6500 per lens.

I just looked on B&H and price has dropped.

    24mm at T1.5 price = $5,220 no ship date

    50mm at T1.3 price = $4,950 ava Aug 30th

    85mm at T1.3 price = $4,950 ava Sep 15th

Now if they only came in PL mount

Maybe they will have an interchangeable mount system like the Zeiss CP.2 ...

Really interested in these lenses too, but I agree - "EF mount only" kind of sucks.

Why they don't use an interchangeable system baffles me, a cine lens with only EF mount??? Real Smart

There is talk, or there has been talk, of two lenses fleshing out the rest of this range. Expect a 14-18mm-ish prime and likely a 135mm. I don't expect those to be T1.3 though.

Remember it's not a 25mm T1.3, it's a 24mm T1.5. This is using their existing still glass elements and rehousing them in cinema quality housing for longer focus throws and "less" image bounce. The 85mm prototype I used was still very much in development. But I have good expectations for these. Just wished they would release more than 3 primes......

I'm still hoping that Samyang/Rokinon Cine series have a 300deg focus rotation... I know it's not the same (t1.5), but it kind of is. If you're spending $5200-$6500 wouldn't it be better to get the CP2s (don't they have a t1.5 set out or coming out?) I can't imagine Zeiss being worse wide open, and if the Canon's go soft at t1.3, then you'd have to stop down anyway. Ironically, the C300 doesn't really need t1.3 given its lowlight ability... Am I right or what, huh?

Conversely, I wish good lenses were cheaper.

I would bet the Canons are sharper wide open than the CP.2

I don't mind the EF mount only, a lot of people have used EF lenses since the original RED One days and the RED cameras today come with EF mount options by default. Not to mention, Canon has their own line to think of and certain other digital cinema cameras are also opting for or providing EF mount options on their cameras. My concerns also relate to the lack of lenses in the lineup and also the hefty price factor. I'm sure more will be on their way but it does beg the question as to what the competition has in the works.

At NAB I played with a C300 with these lenses on it. Minus the view finder on the camera looking very pixeled, similar to the back of a 5d... The huge panasonic screen which the camera was connected to resulted some very clean images with the lens wide open. But then again... the c300 next to that had standrad EF stills lenses on it, and the image looked identical.
Your paying for the mechanical nature of the lens... Which felt very nice.
