    Hey all,

I've come to find that there are a lot of questions concerning insurance; whether it's rental house, film/production, D.I.C.E., etc. I thought this could be a good forum for people to ask questions and get feedback from myself and other users. I specialize in insurance for film, entertainment, and support industries and thought I might be able to clarify any issues. These are complex policies and differ greatly among insurers.

Let's talk about insurance, share your stories, and ask questions!

Hey Kwan. What specifically are you trying to cover? If you are concerned about your own equipment breakdown, that would be more of a normal wear and tear scenario/warranty. If you are trying to insure financial loss, on say, a film because production has to halt until the equipment is repaired or replaced, then there is insurance for that. If you are concerned that someone you rent equipment to breaks the equipment, then their insurance (always require adequate insurance from others renting your equipment) should cover repair or replacement.
I told you this isn't the easiest area of insurance. Ha. Please clarify your situation and I'll try to be more specific in my answer.

I should also clarify that if you are looking for coverage for equipment for a covered cause of loss, like fire etc., then you can cover that as well as financial loss due. For example, if your equipment is damaged due to a covered loss and you have loss of income because you can't rent the equipment out, you could be covered for the cost of the equipment (usually ACV) as well as the financial loss incurred due to lost income. This would be a property coverage with equipment breakdown coverage.

I'm looking for a company that will cover the wear and tear that would normally be covered by the RED Armor warranty. Any ideas? I just need to know if i should go ahead and get Red Armor or if i shouldn't bother because a insurance company can cover it.
