If I'm not mistaken there is a regular DP on this board, who has shot music videos for Eminem. He might be able to give you an educated answer :-)

Yeah, Chris Probst shot this video. Fantastic shooter IMO.

Obviously Chris Probst will give you the real answer.

If I had to guess, apart from all the practicals (maybe changed out for matched bulbs) - light smoke/haze. And quite a lot of overhead kinos. Doesn't seem to be much other lighting or fill. Also possibly something to light the car outside the window, but could easily just be existing ambient carpark lighting.

This shot's lighting was answered in a separate thread...

People have done frame grabs on the internet... I like to see the shots all juxtaposed next to each other light this...

We both chose that camera system. I had shot many projects on the Red One prior to Detention and had developed very specific techniques on how I handled that camera, both physically and in imaging. It was the right camera for that project, but had the Epic been available at the time, hands down we would have opted to shoot with that!

It is quite well documented that I had my issues with the Red One. It's not that you cannot produce good work with it. But once the Epic was introduced, I have never gone back and have since bought one.

By the way, Detention just came out on BluRay and DVD this week. Check it out!

Got my copy from amazon yesterday. If you see Joseph Kahn kick him in the nuts for me, he stated that Detention would be available for sale at wall mart. I went to that s@#$ store for nothing. They didnt even have it in stock. Had to order it online to get it.

Btw the cinematography was really impressive. Loved the anamorphic look of it. Great job chris. Huge fan of your work. Look forward to your next projects. My favorite video you shot was the 50cent justin timberlake ayo technology.
