I don't normally watch opening ceremonies, but since Mr Boyle was at the helm I dutifully tuned in. I thought it was wonderfully subversive and the UK team dressed by Primark was a particular highlight:-)

Well done fella. My pick for the next Olympics is Guillermo del Toro!
    I make stuff.

it was really inspired, but mad, brave, daring, but then it would be, very well done though and really captured the spirit of this Island. To involve non actors and children to perform was a really nice move, it had the feeling of inclusion, accessibility and humanity about it.

The ceremonies are the best part of the Olympics! And this one was absolutely amazing. Transformations of the stage in surprising and amazingly motivated ways, industrial revolution and steam punk, british wit and eccentricity. Incredible show, they even had a NeXTcube on the stage.

I normally cringe at these things (as I did with some parts of last night).... But overall, I thought it was amazing. Dark, humourous, brave, scary and wild. Danny did a great, great job. The creation of the Olympic rings was a real spectacle.

Not a bad cast to work with... The Queen, James Bond, David Beckham and Paul McCartney (and Mr Bean).

Segways or a conveyor belt for the athletes though, next time.

I can't specifically remember anything from most opening ceremonies from the past, but I am certain that years from now, I won't be able to say that.
