It does do 1080 but only by up-rezzing in camera - it's still only a 1 million pixel chip.
And you're right, they do allow 720 but usually only for certain types of shooting - most notably wildlife, where the slow motion is essential. But with 1080 slomo now becoming a reality you have to think that 720 days may well be numbered, and do you really want a worthless asset on your shelf? Not saying this will be the case, but it'd have me biting my fingernails for sure.

Well it dont have the money to get one anyway, and I'm saving up for a Scarlet so I think I will stick with going for RED cameras

Just been looking at the Sachtler ENG 2 D Tripod Legs and Sachtler ENG 2 D Heavy Duty Aluminum Tripod Legs, both very good and hold a lot of weight the ENG 2 D holds up to 35KG and the HD one holds up to 90KG if it was up to me I would get the HD one but unfortunately it is just out of my price range so looking at the ENG 2 D. Anyone else used it before?, still looking at heads though

I would advise you to get carbon fiber instead of aluminum for 2 reasons: first, it's lighter, second, if you drop something heavy or sharp (or both) on an aluminum tube it will likely bend in some way, carbon fiber does not bend, it "springs" back.

Sachtler has carbon fiber sticks in both HD and regular variations, as well as for both 100 and 150mm.

I had a look at the Carbon Fiber version of the ones I was looking at getting and I knew originally that it would cost more, and I cant really afford to get Carbon fiber legs unless they were absolutely necessary, and about the carrying I usually put them into a Hard case with wheels on which makes it easier to transport and to move from one location to another

I just looked again and in terms of weight there is only 1KG difference between the CF and Aliminium which isnt really going to be that noticeable unless I carry it a long distance and its the CF one that weighs more

That's the first time I've heard that. Not saying you're wrong but I'd say just the opposite, CF can snap and it also splinters.

My favorite legs for medium weight cameras are Ronford medium duty legs. Hardly anyone carries them here. Abel does and will special order them. They're aluminum, easy to maintain and far more stable and less twisty than Sachtlers. Also they're a lot cheaper. They're aluminum and incredibly well built. I've been a Ronford fan for ages for feature work as their heavy duty legs are pretty much the standard for full blown studio rigs. Their lightweight gear is less know but has that same ease of use and quality Ronford is know for.

The other set of legs I always take with me are Miller VJ Solos CF legs. While not the quickest to use because of the telescopic twist locks, they'll fit in places you can't get conventional legs to fit (behind bars, in cars, river beds, etc.) They'll also go from 8" to 72" and weight about 5lbs. I take them on every job.
