When people say "I loved the look" or "it looked amazing", am I the only one that thinks they're trying to sugar-coat a turd of a movie?

Matt, is the movie worth a watch or is it a crappy movie that happens to look good (not doubt because of the RED/Ana love sandwich)? I have a soft spot for SciFi, so if you say it's "okay" I'm still gonna watch it... If you say it's horrible (but looked good) I'm probably gonna pass.

I watched the movie, and almost immediately thought that it was dumb. The acting was crappy, when you watch it, you'll immediately be able to tell where the budget went into. By the time the end of the movie rolled around I was glad I watched it.

    LOL. @ Mike P observations.

Yeh Lomoscope must be russian cinemascope. ...right. So is it a crappy movie that looks good ?

Apologies Jon your review sounds like for a crappy movie........ does the acting improve as the film progresses or is just a consistent craptacular performance throughout.

P.S the best movie review I heard was from 12 year old walking out of Prometheus & saying dejected "the movie only had 1 explosion"

So does Lockout have lots of explosions in glorious "Lomoscope" to make up for the bad acting ?

Its not that bad of a movie. It's a story by Luc Besson and I'm a fan of Guy Pearce. Like Jon says the beginning is cheesy and a bit lame but it gets better. There is one part of the story as a whole that made me laugh and say wtf (in regards to the story). Those of you who have seen it will probably all think the same thing. The acting though does get much better than the first 10 minutes. Get it at the Redbox, Blu Ray is only $1.63/day with tax.

There are several explosions and gunfire so yes! lol No nudity though

It's a funny little thing that appreciate it's own B-movie aesthetics. Guy Pearce is having fun there, too. Basically it's yet another "rescue VIP from a space station" kind of movie, but with all the dark humor and Pearce's charisma, after all I wasn't so disappointed. Just don't expect A-level material there.

I had the same approach as you. Love Guy Pearce even though he's become a little too buff for my taste. Overall I think the idea of a prison in space (or orbiting around earth) is very good - maybe a bit like Alien 3, but it's a simple idea like Taken was. Obviously not executed quite as well.

Yeah the movie did get much better as the movie rolled on, which I was glad.
