I can not wait until 2013 to see what's gonna happen , and after much thought between PC and Mac, we go for a Mac, again. That is the question:
    Mac Pro, which to choose?
I have to buy two mac pros for my shop and I am in a terrible doubt .

    1st option - buy a couple of MacPro's with the 12cores 3.06mhz

    or

    2nd option - buy three MacPro's with the 12cores 2.40mhz.

    The price difference is huge.
And the speed difference, is also huge ? More computer or more cores ?
    advices ?

I'd say it all depends on what your needs are.

With three machines you can work on all three at once. Or you can render on one and work on two. Or render on two and work on one. But if you don't need to work on three machines at once, you might get more out of two faster ones.

Perhaps Jeff, who pry knows way more than me can confirm/dispute this lol

But one thing to consider would be if you had the three computers and set them up as a rendering farm, would 12 extra cores (albeit with lower clock speeds) be more efficient then twelve less cores at higher clock speeds?

mediaworkstations sells some good hackintoshs. 16 cores, the new E5. I haven't tried them yet personally but it looks like a good solution until Apple stops dropping the proverbial ball...
