I am going to be making the jump from cs5.5 to cs6 soon and plan on using speedgrade, and occasionally premiere pro for color grading on my projects. I do web videos almost exclusively and my clients are not paying for full blown color correction. Until now I have been doing the best I can on a computer monitor and it seems to be doing the job.

I would like to do a slight upgrade of my system and run out an HDMI signal from a black magic intensity shuttle via usb3.0 to a calibrated HDTV. Does this sound like something that will work?

I would think that as long as the monitor is calibrated I should be getting a true signal from my intensity shuttle and a more accurate overall picture then just using computer monitors

I am also looking at the intensity pro.

Intensity is OK for Premiere, but not for SpeedGrade. Read in Adobe web the tech specs.

I've gone to tech specs, but nothing says you cannot use or speaks of BM Intensity shuttle. Can you give a link of where you are referring to?
Here is the Tech Specs link: http://www.adobe.com/products/speedg...ech-specs.html

The only option (at the moment) for SDI monitoring in SpeedGrade is by Nvidia Quadro SDI: Optional: For SDI output, NVIDIA Quadro SDI Output card. And this is in Windows only, because Quadro SDI is not supported in OSX.

Intensity Shuttle needs a very specific combination USB3 chipset, drivers and mobo. If you don't have an x58 mobo, NEC USB chipset and Renesas drivers, there is a very high probability Intensity Shuttle will not work.

    Isn't Matrox MXO2 also supported?

No. Manuel is correct. I was at the Adobe Roadshow in LA last weekend and took the SpeedGrade modual. I asked that specific question ... how do we monitor out? Nvidia Quadro-w-SDI is currently the only way. (A $6,000.00 card required to monitor SpeedGrade ... WTF??) However, you have to remember this is $25,000.00 program from Iridas that was ported over by Adobe in record speed. Iridas didn't give a "rat's ass" about Matrox or BMD in terms of a monitor out solution. It was a big bucks program that required a big bucks monitor out solution. (Like Scratch). Adobe is aware of it. You could try using a dual monitor set-up and dragging the desktop over? The "word" is look to solution utilizing a Kona 3G soon. How soon? Well ... that remains to be seen.

What amazes me, is the insistence on reinventing the wheel. Why make things difficult for yourself? Intensity Shuttle is what you have and would like to use? Just download the FREE Resolve Lite and use it. Problem solved. It takes the same amount of work to move the material from PPro to Resolve as to SG via EDL. "Send to SG" is only via DPX. I hope you have VERY fast drives for that. There are NO advantages to using SG over Resolve, but there are many advantages the other way around- Resolve works with your hardware, Resolve is THE color grading standard software today, which may do wonders for anyone in today's competitive labor market and at the present time the Resolve is way better software, than SG. Admittedly, the last point is my personal preference.
